As we move ever closer to this year’s festival, I thought I’d take the time to share some exciting news
THE HIDDEN CAMERAS will be joining us, headlining this year’s Music Series.
Many, if not most of you are familiar with the well-loved Hidden Cameras. For those who don’t know, The Hidden Cameras are one of the most deliciously eccentric live band. Fronted by singer-songwriter Joel Gibb, they have been described as “gay church folk music”. Their live performances have been elaborate, high-energy shows, featuring go-go dancers in balaclavas, a choir, and a string section.
Joel has been living in Berlin, and we’re all lucky enough and beyond excited that they’re able to join us for this rare two-night stint at SummerWorks.
We’re not exactly sure what they have in store for us, but when I last spoke to Joel, he asked if there was room for a choir, and whether or not we had dry-ice.
In the fashion of a theatre-performance, The Hidden Cameras will be performing a two-act performance each night at The Lower Ossington Theatre (100A Ossington) on August 5th and August 6th. The space is quite intimate, and tickets are limited.
They are on sale now at Rotate This, Soundscapes and artsboxoffice.ca / 416.504.7529
